That pays off by providing greater ease-of-use to you. We could talk on about WRAT and Three-stage inverted Darlington circuitry, sound pressure levels and time delays of channels, but we won't. Whether we invent and build the technology ourselves, or incorporate another company's, like Dolby, just know that with an Onkyo, amazing sound can be automatic and simple.   Ready for the best of HD resolution? Right now, an Onkyo A/V receiver employs the finest, most beautiful and pristine 1080p upscaling you can find. Marvell Qdeo™ video-processing chip erases video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Result: astoundingly crisp video. Played back on a compatible widescreen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look AMAZING: more detailed and cinematic than ever. While deftly handling the most current high-def display formats, Onkyo's also the first in the world to support the coming full 4K upscaling (3840 x 2160) of standard video sources such as 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion and scaling are performed by a high-quality Marvell Qdeo video-processing chip.   Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz and Audyssey DSX™ Add New Dimensions to Surround Sound. The TX-NR609 handles two advanced surround-sound technologies from Dolby and Audyssey that offer exciting new ways to set up the speakers in your home theater system. Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz can reconfigure the TX-NR609’s surround back channels to deliver “front height” channels. These channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to your movies and games. Audyssey DSX provides a similar front-height speaker option that likewise works to create a more enveloping home theater experience. Let your Onkyo A/V receiver do the work to create a perfect listening experience…All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy. (1) Audyssey 2EQ® tailors multi-channel audio for your home theater speaker set-up by measuring three room positions and applying a resolution filter to the satellite speakers to correct for room acoustics. (2) Audyssey Dynamic EQ® maintains a consistent bass response, tonal balance, and surround-sound effect at different volume levels, so you can enjoy the natural dynamics of your content regardless of the volume. (3) Audyssey Dynamic Volume® automatically compensates for volume fluctuations in different audio content (for example, during commercial breaks) while optimizing the dynamic range.   Easy Navigation- Changing your A/V receiver's settings is now more seamless than ever, thanks to the TX-NR609's overlay On-Screen Display (OSD) feature. With a simple press of the home button, the on-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image you're watching. This means you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and forth from a blank screen background. Customer Reviews more useful than 162 161 people have found this review helpful. Great mid-range AV receiver with more than many other snakeye142 I upgraded from an older non-HDMI Yamaha HTR-5850. I looked at the following: - Onkyo TX-SR608 - Denon AVR-1911 - Pioneer VSX-1020-K - Pioneer VSX-1021-K - Yamaha RX-V667 - A few others - Onkyo HT-RC360 is also a very similar the merit of comparison, esp. with the price. First impression: - box was well packed. - Easy to use right out of the box. I have a simple 5.1 set, but the 7.2 seems easy enough. Plenty of space between things except the power seems to be a little 'clumsy, but certainly not a turning point or something to lose more than five minutes thought. - Many ports (details below). - Very nice intuitive graphical interface and especially the OSD. I am one of those guys who has not read the manual unless I have to, and the only time that I had been how to program a radio station. - Remote is just ok Could a heavier feel and a better explanation of what all these things to use. I've got used to it or use my iPhone at a distance (more on that below). Advantages of this: - 6x HDMI inputs, one front, one output. - Network-capable. I use Pandora VERY integrated and beautiful, but it has many other Internet music features. - Nice On Screen Display (OSD) in the GUI (Graphical User Interface). - 4K support via Marvell Qdeo (3840 x 2160 resolution vs 1920 x 1080, although most TV is not for this, but ...). - IPhone / iPad app (give it a second, I have to say more on this below). - (Available via HDMI pass-through, 3D, audio return channel) all standard HDMI 1.4-features. - Powered Zone 2 audio output. - IPhone / iPod connectivity, straight from the box using your standard USB cable into the front (no need for an extra (more money) connection if one is available: Onkyo iPod docking station to A1-). - PC VGA in (but really, most have HDMI output anyway). - Optional Onkyo UP HT1 HD Radio tuner - Great call quality. - Excellent video upconversion. I took an old DVD and set the output to 480i (standard definition) and let the receiver on-set. Then compared with the output of my PS3 in 1080 and an old HD DVD player (lol) and a standalone DVD Player with 1080 Up-conversion tuner and just blew away. (Note:. On top of the line Sony 50inch TV) - DLNA (for connecting to a home media system or a PC with music). - THX certification (for the show for me and the cool factor that I could not tell much difference). - Sure Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA and all other common decoders. - Ability to easily upgrade the firmware via the Internet. Disadvantages of this: - No built-in HD Radio. - No built-AirPlay (such as some Denon and Pioneer VSX-1021-K). - No video output for zone 2. - No PC control. Some things to note: - The iPhone Remote is a bit lacking. He does his basic things you would expect: the control of the station entrance, on / off, change the music on Pandora etc / DLNA / iPod /, but the volume could use some work and the ability to bass / acute and large control buttons instead of the volume is useless. Two things I wish it had: the ability to vote on Pandora or any interaction, and the ability to select the audio level of each speaker to adjust. Fitting is simple and very easy to use. Very nice bonus. - When using the standby on, you can opt for "last used input", "the output of a specific" or "Auto". If you change it, it turns on. The "Auto" option can be weird sometimes switch to something, but after the thing I want out, go back to catch him. - A fan on the top, but have yet to realize that, even in the dead silence of a horror movie, even after the receiver goes for 5-6 hours, followed by a few days in a row. Maybe later. I am very happy with this and would be (and have) I would recommend a purchase upgrade 06/20/11: - Added the.
