Most helpful customer reviews 46 of 46 people found the following review helpful. Feature by feature review of Bob Robertson, I have a few months researching HDTV and finally landed on this model (Samsung LN40D630). I read many forums online (Cnet.com) on this machine, and I had some concerns that the liquidation to be unfounded. I think the best way to approach this review is to make some of the key features, so here goes: Auto Motion Plus (AMP): I was only concerned about the Auto Motion Plus feature. Many messages complaining about it. I was afraid it would be too smooth (ie too much "soap opera effect"). My fears were unfounded. It is easy to turn it off and it's easy to adjust. I find it to adjust to their source (ie the settings of your cable may be different on your DVD or BluRay player and TV to save them as such). I like a lot for the fast movements (like hockey) and use the "clear picture" for most of the rest of the "demo mode" is an interesting feature that shows the comparison between the AMP and out on a split screen. pretty cool. ConnectShare: This is the feature that lets you connect a USB hard disk or thumb and video games, music or view photos. I am pleased to say that this has quickly become my favorite feature because I have a lot of videos stored on my computer. TV does a great job of reading almost all the major file formats. Authorities external HD off when the TV is turned off, which is a nice feature (I do not forget to unplug every time you turn off the TV and vice versa). The interface firmware integrated video player works very well (pause, fast forward, and back to where you left off, if you must stop, even if you turn everything off and come back later). The music player interface is a bit 'awkward, but it works well. My only complaint about the music player is that it contains a random function I wrote Samsung and asked that these features will be included in future firmware updates. Firmware Update: One of the first things I did was update the firmware. Instructions on the Samsung web site (and manual) was simple and worked perfectly. I hope that other improvements to the Samsung. AllShare: In my opinion, this feature can allow you to connect your TV to your computer and watch videos, see pix, or play the music you have stored there. I have set this up yet, but I did download and install Samsung AllShare programs on my computer and I can set my Media Server in no time. Very easy and simple. All we need now is a long ethernet cable to connect to your TV (you can choose wireless technology with a special adapter, wireless USB, but the adapter is more expensive than an Ethernet cable!). I will connect the TV directly into my router. Fingers crossed. Experiment, but even if not, it's really no big deal to store media on an external USB hard drive and connect it to the TV directly I [my review will update after I had a chance to get this feature]. TV Picture Quality: Samsung's hard to beat in this category. The picture in the store so great. And even better in my home. Clear, crisp, beautiful. Very happy! Sound quality and outputs: This is perhaps the weakest element in this TV. The sound is often "tinny". Fortunately, there are several easy set default audio settings that allow you to compensate. The Clear Voice option works well for dialogue. An equalizer is a custom setting, which can also help to compensate for some of them are also included. I was disappointed that it did not have a dedicated headphone jack on the side. However, it is an individual "audio out" jack on the back. This works with my wireless headphones, which is amplified (ie Built-in volume control), but it is not well with "dumb" headphones (without amplification) There is only one audio output, I had to connect.
